Minesweeper: The Hollywood Blockbuster

Movies based on video games are really popular with the studios right now. Dungeon Siege. Hitman.

The folks at College Humor imagine another hot box office property...

...Minesweeper.

Oh, Honey... The Knitted Companion Cube

This might very well be the best possible gift I could ever receive. For those of you who may not have played Valve's Portal, I won't waste time explaining what this is. Suffice it to say, it is awesome.

Thankfully, k's knitting chops are getting all the more formidable.

Pleeeeeease, baby? I'll buy the materials! (I'm being so sincere right now...)

Click the image for the original instructions, posted by Wren on her Blogger blog. Thanks, Wren, for sharing your work with other Portal lovers out there!

When typos get it right...

We've all seen unintentionally ironic typos, where a presumably innocent error results in a sentence that's more honest than the writer would ever have intended. Yahoo has one of these in their news feed this morning, sourcing a Reuters/Hollywood Reporter piece about how the Writers Guild strike might affect the Golden Globes awards telecast. To clarify the quote below, Dick Clark Productions pruduces and owns a portion of that awards show.

[Dick Clark Prods] also noted that it was not a member of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television and Producers, the studios' bargaining ram.

(That's my emphasis there at the end.)

That's a pro-labor typo if I've ever seen one.
